Body Brushing!

That's right, that's the next step - body brushing!

You have increased your water intake, now we need to get your circulation going.

Buy yourself a body brush, which can found in any good health shop or department store. Every morning when you wake up you will brush from the bottom of you feet to the tops of your thighs, in long upward sweeps. Spend a few minutes on each leg, do the same thing with your arms, always brushing towards your heart.

Your body will tingle all over. Not only does this improve circulation and in turn, your skin, it also helps to break down cellulite underneath the surface.

Do this before bed every night.

Your extra water intake and your body-brushing routine will make a real difference. All these little changes you are making here and there will become your everyday lifestyle before you know it. You only have to do something for 21 days before it becomes a habit - good isn't it?

Water, Water Everywhere?

Let's start to introduce a few simple changes...
Water.

You may have read it a thousand times, but do you actually drink enough water? We may be suffering from a water drought this summer but there is no need for you to too!

There are a few tips to help you drink more water:-

Yes in the beginning you may go to the loo more frequently but your body adjusts to it. Many of us are dehydrated without realising it. It is very common to mistake being thirsty with being hungry. Next time you think you are hungry, try having a glass of water first. If you still feel hungry, then you know it is a genuine hunger.

Start this from today, go and have a glass of water now!

Time For Change...

Did you take your measurements? Good. Let's set some primary goals. Decide what you want to lose and where - what would you be happy with...a couple of inches of your waist, your hips? Are you quite happy with your thighs but want to improve the appearance? Or is it a case of toning muscle in your arms as opposed to actually losing weight from there?

How long would it take you to make these changes - 4 weeks? 6 weeks? 2 months? 6 months? A year? Write down some realistic goals - obviously the length of time will depend on how much weight you want to lose. This part is very important. You have to be aiming for a goal, that way you stay focused and determined. Nothing beats the feeling you get from setting a goal and achieving it. You have done it in other areas of your life there is no reason why you can't do it with your weight and health. No reason at all!

Write down your primary goals, and your reasons for wanting to lose weight. Date it, read it and put it away.

Excellent. Well done! This stage is often the hardest. Some of you may agree with me and those who found it easy may not. But believe me, actually going and doing it can be sooo difficult. Now it 's done.

You have your primary goals now, but before we begin working within those timelines we are going to do some preparation first. It will be a little change here and a little change there but all essential 'grooming' which will make the whole 'weight loss' process alot easier.

This approach is far more effective than jumping straight in. Don't get me wrong, jumping staight in is great too but if you have been trying to lose weight for a while, whether it's a few stone or a few pounds this way will be more beneficial for you. These gradual changes you make will eventually become habits. One step at a time folks!

The First Step...

So, you wanna lose weight eh? Well we all know how to do that - cut down on your food intake and do more exercise. It really is that simple. Use up more calories than you consume. What's the big deal?

The big deal is that even though we have this knowledge, the majority of us find it so difficult to put it into practice. Some of us don't know how to take action, how to start, what to do. That is where I come in. Each week (and sometimes more frequently) I will give you an idea to think about or an instruction to follow and I guarantee that if you implement it, and integrate it into your lifestyle you start to see and feel the difference within a week.

I am here to show you that losing weight does not need to be an arduous task, it does not need to take ages, that it can be fun and exciting. 'How?' I hear you cry. I will show you. Just promise to give some thought to every idea presented, to give each instruction or suggestion a chance. If it doesn't work for you that's fine because lots of other things will but at least you know that you tried it.

Your first task is to go and get a tape measure. Measure around your bust, waist and hips, round your thigh and bicep and make a note of these figures.

Don't bother weighing yourself. That is unimportant. Scales are useless, depending on the 'time of the month' some women can put on up to half a stone. Try explaining that to the scales! Of course you can use scales if you wish, but I feel they do not give an accurate reading so I personally wouldn't bother with them. A long mirror, a tape measure and your clothes are all you need to monitor your weight loss!
